WINDRUDDER: We installed the windrudder at Vollseth. We think it came out good, and look forward to testing it across the North Sea. The weather was fantastic during our stay.
Runes uncle Kjell had constructed a very rugged mooring for Underveis down at the bay, and we slept on land. The weather was perfect, and we stayed for a week instead of two days, as we had originally planned. We swam in the ocean, went sight-seeing, relaxed and mounted the wind rudder. Kjell and Knut helped us, and we think it came out very well. We will be testing it properly during the leg across the North Sea, but so far it looks very promising.
VOLLSETH: After having had no wind at all across Stadthavet, we started the engine and went into the fjord to Nordfjordeid and Runes tante Grethe. We ate all the food we could eat, and installed the wind rudder that we had had sent there.

As always, we awoke a lot of attention, and only the day after we had anchored, cars were stopping on the adjacent road and people stepped out to photograph our ship. This was both amusing and flattering for us, of course. The local media came to pay us a visit, and printed several large articles about the “stockfish express” from Rost. And during the weekend, Anja came from Førde to greet us good luck on our voyage.

It was sad to finally leave Nordfjordeid, but we carried freshly baked bread, delicious plum jam and Grethes stew in our cargo, and sailed out the fjord in a strong wind straight on the bow. As usual, we crossed out into the open sea, and set our course for Bergen. But the wind died on us, and we had to use our engine from time to time. It was raining extravagantly, and we had to rig a bimini to shield the helmsman. But now it was Bergen, our last stop before reaching the big outside world. We had a lot of things to organize there, so we looked forward to a very busy time in Bergen.

WEIRD STONE: In Maloy lies the socalled Kannesteinen, a very strange looking stone formation, shaped by the forces of nature for thousands of years.

WINDY: The coast along Sogn and Fjordane county can be very windy. Here is the surf in Refvika. The waves are almost stalled and blown backwards by the strong winds.
